Tokyo 2020 Oympic & Paralympic Games bid logo

Tokyo 2020 Oympic & Paralympic Games bid committee disclosed the bid logo on November 30. In the competition open to the public, the logo designed by Ai Shimamine, a student of Joshibi University of Art and Design was selected. This logo was based on the motif of Japanese iconic flower cherry blossoms. And in addition to the Olympic key colors—red, blue, yellow, and green—the traditional color of Tokyo Edo Murasaki (Tokyo purple) was painted. According to the committee, the logo symbolizes friendship and peace to the world, and also wish to cheer up Japan with sports. The logo will be used in many applications from now on.
Other applicant cities are Baku in Azerbaijan, Doha in Qatar, Istanbul, Madrid and Rome, and a winner will be elected in 2013.
