The “bones” exhibition in 21_21 Design Sight

At the 21_21 Design Sight in Minatoku, Tokyo, now they have a very unique exhibition “bones” directed by product designer, Shunji Yamanaka. Thinking about bones and design, Yamanaka is trying to consider the relationship between material and internal structure, natural shapes and artificial shapes etc.
You can see the unique works by Yamanaka and top creators including Maywa Denki, Ernesto Neto, Yugo Nakamura etc. Anyway each works are so entertaining that children can enjoy them too. So when you come to Tokyo in this summer, please visit 21_21 Design Sight. This “bones” exhibition is held until August 30th.
The above is the skelton automata ”Yumihiki” by Shoebi Tamaya & Shunji Yamanaka. Yamanaka made an collaboration with Biyou Karakuri (wind up) craftsman boast a history of 275 years. This automaton put an arrow in the target automatically, and its action is very sensitive.
At the exit the skull, which was made based on the scanning data of Yamanaka’s skull, says thanks to visitors.
